About
TRANSPORTATION CONSORTIUM HISTORY
In 2006/2007 the Ministry of Education initiated student transportation reforms to build capacity to deliver safe, effective and efficient services. The three-year plan (to 2010) includes a requirement for boards to provide transportation through consortia, to achieve equity in funding allocations and to reduce the administrative burden of delivering transportation.
As a result, in fall 2007, approval was given for the Algoma Huron-Superior Transportation Services (AHSTS) consortia agreements between the full partners, Algoma District School Board (ADSB) and Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) and between the consortium and the purchases services Boards.
The agreements have been prepared and signed by both ADSB and HSCDSB who make up AHSTS and by the Boards purchasing transportation services, which include CSD du Grand Nord de l’Ontario and Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon.
The 2008/2009 school year saw the establishment of the new transportation consortia to better serve students and parents.
